From a steep vineyard at 300 meters altitude on colored slate soils and quartzite, the 2014 Hendelberg Riesling trocken Erste Lage shows an intense and slatey/flinty bouquet of ripe, floral Riesling aromas along with some herbal flavors. Medium-bodied and finesse-full on the palate, this is a juicy, fruity, well balanced, vital, tension-filled Riesling with grip and salty stones on the palate and a stimulating salinity in the finish. Lovely purity here. Very young but already expressive and very promising. Recommended.
