88 / 100 Robert Parker The 2016 Mâcon-Verzé offers up notes of green orchard fruit, pastry cream, dried white flowers and honeycomb, framed by subtle reduction that dissipates in the glass. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, bright and tangy, with a delicately glossy attack, moderate depth at the core and a pure, saline finish. It doesn't match the concentration of the 2015 rendition, but it's both more vibrant and more approachable. This Mâcon-Verzé was vinified and matured in stainless steel for some 15 months before bottling under Diam.
Domaine Leflaive purchased property in the Mâconnais in 2004 and today cultivates some 20 hectares in Mâcon-Verzé and Solutré-Pouilly. The grapes are farmed biodynamically, harvested and pressed in the Mâconnais, with the must transported to Puligny-Montrachet for vinification after a brief débourbage (or settling). 238, The Wine Advocate
